Emotiki
Emojis are often used/in text messages/around the world.// They add emotions to the text/and create a friendly atmosphere.// However,/some people feel/that basic emojis are not enough.// Maori people,/the indigenous people of New Zealand,/felt that way.//
Maori people created/their own set of emojis/to express their culture.// It is called Emotiki.// Look at the pictures below.// The green emoji face/is sticking out its tongue.// The Maori do this/in their famous war cry,/haka.// In the other emoji,/two people are putting their noses together.// The Maori greet each other/in this way.//
Maori people are satisfied/with the new emojis.// They can express their feelings/in their traditional ways.// They also hope/that other people will be interested/in the Maori language and culture.//
