Ethical Fashion
Mike:-
We’d like to make special T-shirts.
- Moe:
-
We want to be unique and different.
- Ms. Sato:
-
That’s good.
Clothes are a great way to express yourselves.
Have you ever heard about “ethical fashion”?
- Mike:
-
Ethical fashion?
What’s that?
- Ms. Sato:
-
Well,/clothes are connected with nature and people.
“Ethical” means to be kinder to our environment/and more
conscious about the people/making our
clothes.
Ms. Sato:-
Fashion is changing. Big companies produce more clothes/more quickly with less money. This has the greatest impact/on the environment and people.
- Moe:
-
But if clothes are cheaper,/it’s better.
- Ms. Sato:
-
No,/it’s not.
That’s the most difficult problem.
Take T-shirts made from
cotton.
In some countries,/a lot of chemicals are used in cotton fields/and many
children have to work there.
Ms. Sato:-
Organic cotton uses no chemicals.
- Moe:
-
So the environment isn’t damaged.
And it’s kinder to people!
- Mike:
-
But is organic cotton as cheap/as ordinary cotton?
- Ms. Sato:
-
No,/it’s more expensive.
But we should pay/to improve people’s lives.
And if we wear our clothes longer,/it will save money/in the long run.
- Mike:
-
Changing our lifestyle can make a world/where everyone is
happier.
