1We, the opposition side, strongly oppose the motion that “public baths should be banned.”  2I would like to talk about one point: “communication through bathing.”  3We believe that socializing through bathing is an important part of Japanese culture.  4For example, there is a Japanese expression, “hadaka-no-tsukiai.”  5It means to associate with people without their status or title: everyone is the same when they are naked.  6For many Japanese, having communication at a public bathhouse is an essential part of the community where people can meet, talk, and socialize while relaxing.  7Therefore, public baths should not be banned.
