Sunshine’s Funny Little Story
Japanese is not easy for me. At first,/I struggled with pronunciation,/especially the little tsu.
Some time ago,/I went to a store/to buy some soap. Beforehand,/I checked the word/in my dictionary. It said sekken.
I asked the clerk/where to get sekken. The clerk didn’t understand me/because I couldn’t pronounce the word correctly. I said seken or seheken many times,/and each time the clerk said,/“Please say it again.”
I gave up. I searched by myself,/and I found it. I said to the clerk,/“This is what I wanted. What is the proper Japanese pronunciation/for this item?” The clerk answered,/“Sir,/it’s ha-n-do-so-o-pu.”
Thank you for teaching me English.
