The Restaurant of Many Orders
Two young men were hunting in the countryside. They wore uniforms and held guns. They had a professional guide/and two large white hunting dogs that looked like polar bears.
“We have seen no birds or animals,” said one man.
“I want to get a deer,” said the other. “That would be fun!”
They were in the depths of the mountains. Soon the men couldn’t see their guide. Then their hunting dogs became sick/and fell to the ground.
“Those dogs cost a fortune/— and we haven’t shot anything!”/complained the first man.
“It’s getting cold and I’m hungry. Let’s go home,” grumbled the other.
They turned and headed home/leaving the dogs behind. But the path was confusing/and soon they were lost.
“Where are we?” asked the first man.
“I have no idea,” answered the second. “We’re walking around in circles.”
Suddenly a strong wind blew. The tree branches swayed/and an elegant brick building appeared.
“Look!” shouted the first man over the wind,/“Maybe we can get something to eat.”
At the entrance was a sign.
RESTAURANT WILDCAT//
A restaurant in the middle of the forest? What luck! They found a glass door in the entrance/with a sign in gold letters.
PLEASE COME IN.// DO NOT HESITATE.//
They pushed open the glass door/and discovered a long corridor before them. They followed it/and found another sign in yellow on a blue door.
OUR RESTAURANT HAS MANY ORDERS.//
PLEASE BE PATIENT.//
“Many orders? This place must be popular!” the first man said. The second man replied,/“Imagine finding such a wonderful restaurant!”
They strolled to the end of the entrance hall/and found another door. Next to this door,/there was a mirror and a long-handled brush. On the door was a sign in crimson letters. PLEASE CLEAN YOUR BOOTS/
AND COMB YOUR HAIR.//
“Clean our boots? Comb our hair?”/complained the second man.
