I’m in favor of learning languages other than English. English is not the only language that can be used in the global community. For example, Chinese is fast becoming more important in business, and various international organizations use French. In addition, we can deepen our understanding of the cultural backgrounds and thoughts of speakers of those languages. I agree that English is the most useful and dominant language in the world. However, we should realize that usefulness alone is not what language is all about. For these reasons, I support the idea of learning a foreign language other than English.
