Cloned cultural property is works of art created by reproducing valuable cultural property by means of combining the latest scientific technology with the skills and knowledge of traditional art craftsmen. The technology and the skills were developed by a team at Tokyo University of the Arts. They worked diligently to protect items of art and craft that are difficult to preserve for long periods of time. In addition, the team has managed to restore old documents and wooden objects that have been severely damaged efficiently and at a low cost. The technology and skills they have developed will surely become an effective means of protecting valuable cultural property.
