Subject Choice and Creativity
In my opinion, high school students should not be allowed to freely choose the subjects they study. They may think that some subjects are boring or of little use for their future careers, but nobody knows what kind of knowledge and skills will be required in future society.
I think creative thinking can be developed by studying a wide variety of subjects. However, if we could choose subjects as we please, few of us would take subjects like mathematics and physics, thinking they are of little use in our daily lives, and even fewer would take subjects like art and music, since they are not included in ordinary university entrance examinations. Such attitudes might prevent us from developing the ability to think creatively. So, for this reason, I don’t think high school students should be allowed to choose their subjects freely.
