1 無生物主語構文
＊ 次の（b）のように「〈無生物の主語〉が人に～させる」という意味の文を〈無生物主語構文〉と呼ぶ。
2 強調構文
＊ It is ~ that ...「…は～だ」の構文は「～」の部分を強調する表現で、〈強調構文〉と呼ばれる。「～」の部分には名詞句だけでなく、in the late 1980s のような副詞句も来る。

If you take this cold medicine, you may get sleepy.
(b)
This cold medicine may make you sleepy.
