The Apollo Moon Landing
The USA carried out the Apollo Program/from 1961 to 1972.//
The program’s goal was/to land astronauts/on the moon.//
It achieved this goal/on July 20, 1969/with the success of the Apollo 11 mission.//
Neil Armstrong stepped out of the Apollo lunar module Eagle/and walked on the moon!//
At that time,/he said his famous line,/“That’s one small step for a man,/one giant leap for mankind.”//
Like Uematsu’s grandfather,/many people around the world/were very excited/when Armstrong walked on the moon.//
This was the first time/that a person had visited a place/outside Earth.//
Altogether,/twelve people walked on the moon/between July, 1969 and December, 1972.//
Today,/many countries are looking at the next space frontier,/Mars.//
Who will be the first person/to walk on that distant planet?//
