Are you reading The Tale of Genji ? I’ve read it in English.

Ken :

Really? In my opinion, studying classical literature is a waste of time.

Mary :

Oh, why do you think works from 1,000 years ago are read today? It is said that they help preserve the Japanese identity because they can teach you the values that are important to the Japanese. I highly recommend reading the classics.

Ken :
