Many overseas visitors think that kimono  and yukata  are the same kind of clothing, but in fact they are different. First of all, they are made of different materials. Kimono  are usually made of silk. On the other hand, yukata  are made of cotton. There is also a seasonal difference. Kimono  can be worn all year round, but yukata  are typically worn during the summer. Finally, kimono  are more formal than yukata . Kimono  are often worn at special ceremonies, while yukata  are worn as a bathrobe at places like hot springs.
